There can be a considerable amount of work involved in sanding down existing wooden floorboards to produce an attractive wood floor. It will be necessary to hire a sander, fill in any gaps between the floorboards and select an appropriate finish, such as wax or varnish. It may be worth paying a company to undertake this work. It is also possible to lay a pre-packed wood floor. These floors are made from solid wood, hardwood veneer or laminate. All three types can be laid directly on to a smooth, level floor.
