Health management organizations (HMO's) can be considered reliable if they are accredited by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA). Washington DC area HMO's that have received NCQA accreditation include Prudential Mid-Atlantic Group, CIGNA Healthcare Mid-Atlantic and George Washington University Health Plan.

The man who saved himself
Article Abstract:
Julius Axelrod, who is considered the father of modern pharmacology, suffered from cardiac arrest and was saved only by the application of his own medical knowledge. His research on neurotransmitters revolutionized the field of pharmacology and made possible such life saving operations as cardiac surgery.
