"Snapper farm" may aid Gulf stocks: Developments at an Alabama mariculture center may help enhance red snapper populations in the wild

Article Abstract:

A small group of scientists at the Claude Peteet Mariculture Center in Gulf Shores, Alabama, are working towards the recovery of red snapper stocks in the Gulf of Mexico by making scientific breakthroughs in spawning, feeding and raising of snapper in captivity. The chief of Marine Resources for Alabama's Department of Conservation said that in 2003 the center had produced 2,000 red snapper while in 2004 they expect to produce 20,000.

Woodside Biomedical's ReliefBand is a wristwatch-like battery operated electro-acustimulator that prevents seasickness. It targets the P6 acupuncture point, and comes in two forms: the RB-DL disposable ($50) and the RB-RL ($150) with replaceable battery.
