Stand in the door: The M1A1 Carbine

Article Abstract:

The US military firearm of World War II is the US Carbine, Caliber .30 M1A1 which represented a new category of service arm, initially intended to replace both the .45 ACP pistol and the Thompson submachine gun. As production continued, several variants of the M1 carbine were developed, including a selective fire version, the M2, as well as a model designed to mount an infrared night vision sight, the T3.

Article Abstract:

The most venerable United States military rifle of all time is the U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30 Model of 1903, which is also known as the Springfield 'Oh-Three'. The purpose of the rifle, many variants, and modifications done during its long tenure are discussed.
