The Open North American Championships sled dog race held in Fairbanks is compared with Anchorage's Fur Rendezvous World Championship. The Fairbanks trail, which mostly runs outside the city, is considered a better trail than Anchorage's trail, which runs mostly along crowded streets.

Groucho the Grizzly Bear is considered the most testy creature of the wildlife. Adult grizzlies are often in a sour mood and are quick-tempered. They are, however, among the bravest and brightest of all beasts.
