The Salmon storm: Scientists debate the risks and benefits as farmed fish claim market dominance

Article Abstract:

Alaskans are people of the salmon where the firm flesh of wild salmon is a comfort food unique to the Alaska way of life. However, with the increasing dominance of the salmon farmers in Chile and Canada that dominate the American market, a well-publicized study revealed that farmed salmon contained higher levels of PCBs and other pollutants than wild salmon that led Alaska legislators to ban "finfish farming" in 1990.
