The deprivation vacation: There's a wave of travelers who are making do with less - deserted islands, silent retreats, anti-smoking cruises. Has abstinence become the new indulgence?

Many vacationers are choosing to go on vacations where they are closed off from the outside world, subjected to starvation and/or physical labor, and deprived of worldly luxuries. They don't do this to save money, because oftentimes it is the most affluent customers who ask for a break from the luxuries of everyday life.
