Some airline companies offer bereavement fares to customers who need to fly to see a close relative who is facing imminent death or has already died. Documents to prove relationship to the deceased or gravely ill person will be needed from anyone wishing to avail of this fare. An overview of major US airline policies regarding bereavement fares is presented.
