Walker became governor in 1972, and Chicago mayor Richard Daley was instrumental in blocking Walker's bid for a second term. Walker gained notoriety for a study which concluded that police had caused rioting during the 1968 Democratic National Convention.

Three Chicago artists will be represented at the Documenta exhibition of contemporary art. Gaylen Gerber and Jim Lutes will display their paintings, and Joe Scanlan will show sculptural works. The exhibition takes place in the summer of 1992.
