The rough and tumble of adventure travel

Article Abstract:

Adventure vacations offer travelers opportunities that challenge their appetites for excitement, recreational skills and curiosity about the natural world. In the US alone, adventure tourism generates $200 billion or 50% of leisure vacations. There are more than 8000 travel agents that offer some kind of package that ranges from strenuous to casual activity. Whitewater rafting and camping rank as the most popular hard and soft adventures, respectively.

Millennium New Year's: how not to get gouged

Article Abstract:

People are making elaborate plans for New Year's Eve 1999 as a celebration for the new millennium. In some cases, the prices being paid for the elaborate plans are too high as companies engage in price-gouging practices due to the high demand. It is estimated that 20% of Americans alone want to be somewhere special when the year 2000 arrives. The time will likely be hectic due to overbooking, delays and computer problems.

Rentals: all the comforts of home: hotel alternatives offer, economy, convenience

Article Abstract:

Vacation rental or home exchanges can offer travelers savings and convenience over hotel rooms. Making arrangements for short-term rentals requires more planning and research than making hotel arrangements, but the benefits for some travelers are worthwhile.
