U.K.: The Channel Islands

Article Abstract:

The five Channel Islands open to the public, namely, Jersey, Guernsey, Sark, Herm and Alderney and other countless islets part of the United Kingdom that lie in the English Channel closer to France than to England are described. On both the islands of Jersey and Guernsey there are endless beaches, hiking, biking, bird watch and flower festivals known as 'battles'.

People sponsor poor children worldwide through charitable institutions such as Save the Children. A very rewarding experience for donors is to visit sponsored children to see the impact made in their lives. Such a trip made by Terry and Audrey Saunders of Dalton, GA, to the Philippines is described.

Portland, OR, has perhaps the greatest abundance of public gardens of any major city in the US. As part of the vision of the city's founders, a large portion of the city's land was devoted to horticulture and landscape gardening. The beautiful results are described.
