Article Abstract:

A survey of the reading material required of 9th graders in 17 Chicago, Illinois, school districts highlights the tension between requiring classic literature and modern, multicultural literature. The most surprising aspect of the results of the survey was that contemporary literature has more or less displaced older works of literature.

Hubbard Street's dancers are a diverse group and young and old, heterosexual and gay, men and women. The attractive men and women have fun dancing and listening to good music. A special night out began at the Shubert Theatre where choreographer Harrison McEldowney's performances received good reviews.
