Aging couples in dual-career/earner families: patterns of role-sharing

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine the personal and social variables that predict a role-sharing among mature dual-career couples. The results indicate that the primary variable to this condition is frequency of past role sharing. The schoolteacher sample is surprising because it yielded a high number of egalitarian marriages. Explanations for this phenomenon range from lack of fit between public and private life to cultural change.
