Ann Petty's 'In Darkness and Confusion' portrayed the Harlem Riot of 1943 as a result of the frustration felt toward city officials, police, and the segregated military. Historians and sociologists support this view, noting looters came from all economic and social classes and that the rioters were physically deprived.

Police handling of domestic violence calls: an overview and further investigation

Article Abstract:

Two methodologies for reporting police arrest response rates are examined, the police self-report and case record analysis. Findings include the significant impact of situational factors in both methods over other factors such as victim, officer or offender characteristics.
