Article Abstract:

Rasch Tapetenfabrik, a German wallpaper manufacturer, and Vorwerk Teppichwerke, a German carpet manufacturer, are using artistic designs created by well-known designers to increase their sales. Rasch presented its range, called 'Zeitwaende' at the Documenta IX arts festival. Critics claim that art and practical things such as carpets and wallpaper should not mix, but the two companies hope that their wares will become more of an art form, with customers selecting products for their own sake.

However, economists are now starting to believe that fiscal consolidation does not bring monetary advantages or boost economic growth. Indeed, almost all consolidations in the past have led to a slowing of economic activity.
