Back in balance: give yourself a sporting chance by focusing on proper alignment

Article Abstract:

Proper back alignment and proper posture will greatly enhance an athletic performance. Six exercises are presented which will strengthen the back and correct poor posture. They include, neck lengthener, arm circles, wall roll down, double leg, beginning teaser, leg circles, the saw, and the hundred.

New thinking about drinking

Article Abstract:

A study of 120,000 nurses suggests that women who consume one to two drinks per day may cut their risk of heart disease by up to 45%. Drinking moderately may also relieve stress, provide resistance to colds and lead to denser bones. However, alcohol may increase the risk of breast cancer.

Complementary exercise: five mind-body workouts, five sports, five new ways of thinking about training

Many athletes find that their performances improve after participating in mind-body training. Five alternative training techniques are profiled: yoga, the Alexander Technique, Pilates, Tai Chi, and Feldenkrais. The sports that each technique are best suited for are also listed.
