Children at risk: adventure and endurance sports aren't kid stuff, but increasing numbers of kids are participating in them. Should they be?

Article Abstract:

Seven-year-old Jessica Dubroff died in Apr 1996, while trying to become the youngest pilot to fly cross country. Her death and other near-tragedies have raised concerns about youth participating in high-risk sports. However some parents and children say they learn valuable lessons from participation.

Intolerable: does the Ben Wright saga signal an end to the fight against homophobia in women's sports, or just the beginning?

Article Abstract:

CBS ended golf commentator Ben Wright's contract after he made disparaging remarks about lesbians in the sport and negative comments about Valerie Helmbreck. Homophobia is still a problem in many women's sports, but the Wright incident may be a sign that it is becoming less acceptable.
