Minipile milestone in Memphis

Article Abstract:

The Memphis Area Transit Authority conducted a restoration and stabilization project for Memphis, TN's bus maintenace/administrative center. The center has settled excessively, causing damage to its buildings and utilities. The project involved a novel foundation repair method and a unique 'best-value' bid and design-build project delivery method. The repair method entailed the use of minipiles to underpin and relevel buildings and driven piles to reinforce new structures outside the buildings. The design concept required the installation and testing of all piles before the construction contract was awarded.
