Cut to the chase

Article Abstract:

US national champion cyclist Janie Eickhoff will compete in the 4,000-meter individual pursuit at the 1992 Olympics, the first time that this race has been an Olympic event. She is also a champion speed skater, and the new alternating Olympic schedule should allow her to participate in both sports.

No pain, no Spain

Runner Gwen Torrence faces a tough field in the 100 meter race in the 1992 Olympics, but she hopes to finish in first place. Torrence has trained hard since the 1989 birth of her son following a difficult pregnancy.

Let the games begin
