Dipped, whipped and waltzed: if you think ballroom dancing is wimpy, think again

Article Abstract:

A woman describes how hilarious ballroom dancing lessons with her boyfriend were really a form of wrestling. They learned four dances, the waltz, the swing, the rumba, and the fox-trot. The dancing project had been at the suggestion of a friend. But her next idea, boxing, was not taken up.

The Maine Wilderness Rescue Team is an all-volunteer organization that helps track down people who have become hurt or lost in the wilderness. About one-third of the group's members are women. They train together every Sunday, and most members keep fit by doing other outdoor sports.

Attack of the icky diseases

Article Abstract:

People who frequent the outdoors have an increased risk for rabies, hantavirus and human granulocytic ehrlichiosis (HGE). Rabies is transmitted via animal bites, hantavirus through mouse droppings and HGE from deer ticks. Details about invasive Group A streptococcus are also given.
