Article Abstract:

Computers, which have evolved into more than just tools for work, represent different emotional significance for different people. While computers may offer boundless intimacy through e-mail and chat rooms, some may find the Internet a tool for isolation. An examination of how this recent technology is changing people's emotional lives is presented.

Shedding light on seasonal sadness

Article Abstract:

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) can occur in either summer or winter. People who suffer from SAD in the summer may be unusually insensitive to light at that time of the year, while winter SAD sufferers are believed to secrete the brain chemical, melatonin, later at night than usual, resulting in fatigue.
