Utilizing volunteer research assistants in epidemiologic studies

Article Abstract:

Employing volunteer research assistants in epidemiologic studies of the aged is a feasible and economic approach. A two-year cross-sectional study conducted by the Buck Center for Research in Aging, Marin County, California, reveals that this approach maintains the quality of the research. There is no adverse impact on the subjects' responses and the volunteers derive a feeling of satisfaction. Utilizing volunteers is important as the population of aged suffering from diseases is increasing.
