Article Abstract:

Most newborns sleep about 16.5 hours a day, of which 8.5 hours are spent on intermittent night sleep, but infants' sleeping patterns vary from one baby to another. Most 4-6 month-old babies sleep for shorter periods and would be awake the rest of the day, spending 8-9 hours for uninterrupted night sleep.
