Article Abstract:

A study conducted by Dr. Burns and Florence Chang, PhD, of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill reported that two big indicators of a young child's ability to pay attention are his motivation and innate temperament. They found that kids who gravitated toward challenge and who could exercise self-control, paid better attention.

Stop sibling rivalry

Article Abstract:

Generally, older children are jealous of their newborn sibling as of the attention they are getting. T. Berry Brazelton, a known pediatrician, believes that sibling rivalry is one way kids learn and care about each other and that parents should not interfere in it until anyone is getting hurt.

The behavior of the children up to the age of two years when they are frustrated, and how they should be handled at that time is discussed. The children hit, shout or cry just to draw attention of the parents for which they should not be scolded but should be dealt with love and affection.
