How toddlers learn strategic sharing

Spontaneous sharing has been noted in one- and two-year-olds, affirming the common observation of a number of mothers. Mothers, however, can further encourage their children to develop the habit of sharing by praising their children when they share their belongings and initiating turn-taking games.
