Sprained ankles are the most common athletic injury, but without proper treatment they can become a chronic problem. The ankle should be rested to avoid further injury. Ice, compression and elevation are also recommended. Details of these treatments are discussed.

Tennis elbow may seem to be a minor injury at first, but it can develop into a chronic disability. The causes and treatment of tennis elbow, as well as preventive exercises designed to stretch and strengthen the forearm muscles, are discussed.

Pain is often caused by inflammation of the body tissues. If the inflammation becomes chronic, scar tissue may be formed. Tendinitis, periostitis, bursitis and fasciitis are described, and treatment for inflammation is discussed.
