Health experts have failed to agree on the benefits of swimming as exercise. While advocates swear by its aerobic and muscular benefits, others feel that it is not a good way to burn calories. However, using technical skills honed by athletes, swimmers can get the best workout from swimming.

The new (improved) stretch

Article Abstract:

The Active-Isolated Stretching technique emphasizes the slow stretching of muscle groups by stretching a muscle group alternately with its opposite muscle group. Stretching is done with aids, such as ropes, to ensure a smooth and gradual flexing of the target muscle group.

Winter on foot

Article Abstract:

Runners should wear proper clothing when venturing outdoors during winter. Several thin layers of clothing work better than a single thick layer. The second layer acts as insulator while the outermost one serves as protection from wind and precipitation.
