Article Abstract:

Feminist therapy issues gaining increasing attention include decisions involving children and adolescents within mental health settings. Global cultures usually perceive adults as authorities exercising their power over children. However, the human rights of these young population have not been given emphasis. Feminist therapy also delves on issues which include children's right to information and to make a decision regarding treatment, adolescents' need to acquire reproductive knowledge, and children and adolescents' rights to decide regarding psychoactive medication.

Nonsexist therapy: is it?

Article Abstract:

Many psychotherapists still engage in sexist therapeutic practices despite their claim of adherence to political correctness. Such practices have serious psychological implications on women who are in need of mental health services. Sexist therapeutic and counseling practices fail to help women deal with their problems by legitimizing the idea of gender inequality. Moreover, these practices violate the ethical principles in the counseling/psychotherapy of women.

Atrocities against women are not only magnified during times of armed conflict but expose the artificiality of the line between 'wartime' and 'peacetime' violence. Attacks against women within areas of armed conflict zones can thus be considered one more manifestation of the undeclared war upon women worldwide. Yet international tribunals to a considerable degree ignore or trivialize war crimes committed against women.
