Mouw, now 32, was a nationally ranked triathlete when she was diagnosed with Hodgkin's disease in Jun 1993. Despite undergoing chemotherapy, she maintained a rigorous workout schedule and tried to keep a positive attitude. Although she has suffered a relapse, she continues to exercise.

An increasing number of women are studying karate for the physical and mental benefits it provides. Karate is an excellent cross-training sport because it involves a great deal of kicking, squatting and twisting. Tips on how to find a good karate school are provided.
