Article Abstract:

Manufacturers of ionizers claim they help asthma and hay fever sufferers by producing negatively-charged ions which leave the circulating air cleaner. While many with respiratory problems feel that an ionizer helps, many others have not seen any benefit from their use. Of 11 ionizers tested, three failed to produce any ions and two did not produce enough. A table giving the test results, plus associated facts and figures, is included.
