Jury finds Scheidler, Operation Rescue guilty

Article Abstract:

A jury in Chicago, IL, has found Joe Scheidler, Operation Rescue and other members of the anti-abortion group, guilty for damages and injuries they caused when they invaded an abortion clinic in Pensacola, FL, in 1985. The jury said that the accused violated the Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act because they used violence, intimidation and extortion to stop abortion. The decision was a big victory for the National Organization for Women, which was the co-plaintiff in the case.
