Law enforcement's response to sexual assault: a comparative study of nine counties in North Carolina

Article Abstract:

The police response to sexual assault in nine North Carolina counties is compared. A specialized police unit and the use of blind reports are significantly related to association with community rape crisis centers. Sexual assault continues to focus somewhat on the issue of the victim's consent , but there does seem to be increased officer sensitivity to the victims' needs.
