A feminist in the Arab world

Article Abstract:

Egyptian doctor Nawal El Saadawi believes that feminism is not only prompted by prevailing bias against women but also by foreign domination of one's country. Saadawi's feminist consciousness was awakened because of Islam's preference for males. Saadawi's major achievements in the feminist movement are her writings, particularly on the connection between sex and politics. She also discusses the conflict between Western and Arab feminisms.
