Lesbian rights a hot issue in state legislatures
Article Abstract:
Several bills on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgendered issues that were introduced in state legislatures in 1998 are among the difficult challenges facing the National Organization for Women and its allies. These bills include anti-same-sex marriage, anti-civil rights, sodomy repeal and HIV/AIDS-related measures. Some bills also seek to limit domestic partnership benefits. Hate crime bills were also introduce in seven states.
