The new Vikings are here

Article Abstract:

Sweden's direct investment in the UK has reached two billion pounds sterling in 1990, making this Scandinavian nation more than a British trading partner, but an important foreign investor as well. The increase in Swedish foreign investment may be attributed to two factors: the Swedish government's total abolition of currency exchange controls, and its ambivalence in joining the European Community (EC). Swedish companies also find doing business in the UK to be attractive because of lower labor costs and high quality workforce. The Swedes expect to maintain their strong presence in the British business world even after Sweden becomes a member of the EC.
