Tamrong fabric

The Tamrong fabric designed by Hiroshi Awatsuji Design Studio for Fujie Textile Company Ltd of Tokyo, Japan, received a gold award in the furniture category of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. Designed for contract use, the Tamrong fabric was praised for its pattern that gives an illusion of three-dimensionality. This adds a rich texture to the fabric that is not found in other contract fabrics, which tend to be ordinary and dull.
