The past two decades has seen a rise in single-child families for practical reasons such as the high cost of childcare and the challenge of maintaining a work-home balance. There are advantages and disadvantages of raising a single-child but parents should not be overprotective, should not provide limited peer attention, should not set unrealistic expectations and should not make too many decisions for their child.
