NOW interns and activists face to face with feminist heroes and legislators at Women's Equality Summit

Personalities such as First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton and Labor Sec Alexis Herman joined feminist activists and National Organization for Women interns during the first Women's Equality Summit and Congressional Action Day in Washington, DC. The event, which was held from Mar 15 to 16, 1999, tackled issues and legislation that will greatly affect the lives of women. A moving speech was given by Clinton regarding the impact of Social Security reform on the lives of women.

Young Feminist Summit empowers new activists
Article Abstract:
The Young Feminist Summit which was held in Arlington, VA, on Apr. 7-8, 1995, was attended by new women's rights activists who are seeking to change the role being played by women in society. The participants, which include women's rights advocates Kirsten Xanthippe and Pat Varieur, also planned the logistics for the summit and created a hierarchical structure that guaranteed the success of the affair.
