No parents allowed! Coping with your child's need for privacy

Article Abstract:

Children begin to exhibit a desire for privacy at age five to six, which grows stronger as they get older and may be related to their bodies, thoughts or possessions. Parents who respect and have a flexible attitude to this need for privacy enable their children to become more independent.

College teacher Hansa Nundy has set out to uplift the conditions of the poor, illiterate women of India. In the village of Sonamukhi in Aug. 1994, Nundy founded the Seema Center as a literacy training center where women could also learn skills such as sewing and baking.
