Options to get the most of your retirement income

Article Abstract:

Retired people must consider the factors such as inflation, inadequacies of financial plans, and medical expenses in investing their retirement savings in order to yield additional income. Individuals can invest their money in immediate annuities such as single life or period-certain, insurance plans such as whole life or variable life, or in the stock market. Whatever the choice, individuals must first study his options and determine the best investment strategy to suit his and his surviving family.

Women's retirement: a case study approach

Article Abstract:

A case study that examines the effects of retirement on women is presented. It is argued that retirement is a process, womens views on retirement are examined and revises the concept of retirement. There are three patterns of retirement styles, which are anticipators, resisters who have retired and resisters who are still working. The two types of reactions towards retirement include happy or adapted and loss of status. Various factors which affect retirement are discussed.

A decision rule approach to minimum pension liability recognition under SFAS no. 87

Article Abstract:

The disclosure of a balance sheet minimum pension liability (ML) when the accumulated benefit obligation (ABO) is underfunded is required of firms with a defined benefit plan under the Statement of Financial Accounting Standards No. 87 (SFAS 87). A four-step decision rule approach is presented to make the complex calculations related to ML reporting easier to understand.
