Fitness pageants are a combination of bodybuilding competitions and beauty pageants, where women are judged on both appearance and athleticism. Contestants are often veterans of other sports or cheerleading. Because of the combination of fitness and beauty, things like hair and makeup can weigh heavily in judging.
