Prolonged exposure of pregnant women to chemicals can be hazardous for their health as well as the health of their unborn baby resulting in miscarriage, preterm delivery, low birth weights or developmental delays. Precautions should be taken against exposure to chemicals like lead, mercury and arsenic, which can take place through tap water, fishes or through wooden structures.
