A woman who cuts calories back to far during vigorous exercising or training can damage her bones, reproductive system and cause other health problems such as eating disorders. An active woman should consume 15 calories per pound of her weight plus the calories she has burned while exercising.

Timing is everything: it's not just what you eat but when that tells the tale

Article Abstract:

Women athletes can get more benefits from training by eating protein and carbohydrates before exercise and eating protein to restore amino acids and fruit to replenish glycogen after a workout. Drinking enough fluids is important. Athletes may need nutritional supplements.
