Seasonal sadness and what you can do about it

The winter season induces symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) characterized by depression, catatonia and suicidal behavior. People afflicted with SAD are advised to seek counseling and light therapy to avoid the feelings of tension and fatigue associated with darkness.

Research on the effectiveness of using light therapy to treat seasonal affective disorder is described. The study disproved the theory that light only works because of its placebo effect.
