Sex, intimacy and self-esteem: the case of the African American older woman

Article Abstract:

A pilot study was conducted to determine the relationship betwen sexual attitudes, intimacy and self esteem in African American elderly women. Results indicate that not all aspects of spousal intimacy are equally important in their relationships. Various descriptors of intimacy are described such as affection, friendship, eros, empathy and self-love and their relation to self-esteem. It was noted that there was a dissatisfaction with their sex lives probably due to ill health on the part of the spouses.

The rich get social services and the poor get capitalism

Article Abstract:

Members of the upper class receive more services for less, compared to those of the lower class. This is true because an increase in income and social status carries with it an increase in benefits, tax credits and other free services. For example, most plane passengers in the first class section enjoy free travel benefits, while those in the economy section most likely paid for their own tickets.
