The side-up exercise is an alternative abdominal exercise which is done at an angle. The side-up strengthens the abdominal muscles and the oblique muscles, which are often neglected during a regular abdominal crunch. The technique may also prevent back injury and improves posture.

Article Abstract:

The rotation arch can solve posture problems by strengthening upper back and posterior shoulder muscles. With an elastic resistance band, it can be done to ease the discomfort caused by prolonged sitting. The exercise can also stabilize chest and anterior shoulder muscles.
