Idaho's Cascade Raft Company employs about 50% women guides, which is unusual for a sport still dominated by men. Many women rafting guides say they still feel pressure to be better than than men, but attitudes are slowly changing. Some of the guides work at ski resorts during the winter.

Honeymoon in Tibet

Article Abstract:

A former ski racer describes a trip she took with her new husband to climb 23,355 ft Gurla Mandhata peak in Tibet. The two entered the country surreptitiously and traveled light. She got close to the top, but had to turn back because of altitude sickness. Her husband made the summit.

When the road is a drag; cycling from San Francisco to L.A. to support the fight against AIDS is more than a physical challenge; it's a trip

A woman describes the adventures she had while riding with 1,824 other cyclists from San Francisco, CA, to Los Angeles, CA. The 525-mile bike ride was a charity fundraiser for AIDS causes. She completed the seven-day ride, despite having done little training beforehand.
