Article Abstract:

Employees contemplating resigning from their existing jobs can better decide on their career choices by considering the most common reasons for switching employers. Employees normally want to change jobs for reasons which include changes in career goals, insufficient compensation, lack of learning, boredom, and a lack of opportunity for advancement. However, experts warn potential resignees to discuss career development with immediate superiors first before making the decision.

New graduates have negotiating power although they lack work experience. They can impress prospective employers with their past internship or volunteer work and affiliations with professional or students organizations where they learned networking, communication and conflict-resolution skills. Fresh graduates are also reminded to give more importance to companies' health and benefits package than the salary they are offering.
