The everyday policing of women with romantic codefendants: an ethnographic perspective

Article Abstract:

An ethnographic perspective on female offenders with romantic codefendants is given. Law enforcement efforts and the social control and surveillance exerted by romantic partners at home and in the prison condition these relationships. Such women face significant barriers to accessing drug treatment as an alternative to imprisonment.

Focusing on girls and young women: a gendered perspective on female delinquency

Article Abstract:

This article explores female delinquents' perspectives of factors that lead to delinquent behavior. The authors maintain the majority of the respondents listed family problems, running away, abuse issues, and substance abuse as major risk factors, and a minority of the girls listed gang and violence issues.
