The lowdown on high-altitude sickness: what to know before you move up in the world

Article Abstract:

A visitor recounts how a trip to the Rockies resulted in severe nausea and other symptoms of acute mountain sickness (AMS). It is brought on in some people by the swift change in altitude and the inability of the body to get enough oxygen in the rarer air. Tips are given on how to reduce the effects.
